WidgetVerse Privacy Policy
Effective 4 October 2026
WidgetVerse ("the app") is a home screen widget app for Android. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and what happens to it. In short: the app has no account, no ads and no analytics, and your personal information stays on your phone. The only thing the app sends over the internet is a request for the weather forecast.
Information the app uses
Every item below is optional. The app asks for permission only when you choose a widget that needs it, and works without it.
| Information | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate location (if you allow it) | To show the weather where you are. | Rounded to about 1 km and sent to the MET Norway weather service only to get the forecast. The last position is saved on your phone. You can pick a city instead. |
| Calendar events (if you allow it) | To show your upcoming events on calendar widgets. | Read on your phone and shown on your widgets. Never sent or stored anywhere else. |
| Steps (if you allow it) | To show today's steps on step widgets, read from your phone's step sensor or from Health Connect. | Read on your phone and shown on your widgets. Never sent, shared, sold or used for advertising. The app never writes to Health Connect. |
| App usage (if you grant usage access) | To show today's screen time, your most-used apps, how many times you've unlocked your phone, and how much mobile and Wi-Fi data your phone has used. | Worked out on your phone from Android's own statistics. Never sent anywhere. |
| Battery level | To draw the battery history graph of the last 24 hours. | A reading every few minutes, kept on your phone for about a day. Never sent anywhere. |
| Now playing (if you grant music access) | To show the song that's playing and let you play, pause and skip. | Read on your phone. Your notifications themselves are never read or stored. |
| Photos and contacts you pick | To show a photo or favourite people on a widget. | Only the items you choose, copied into the app's private storage on your phone. |
| Notes, checklists, habits, counters | Content you type into widgets. | Stored only on your phone. |
Health Connect
If you connect Health Connect, WidgetVerse reads only your step count, only to display it on your widgets. If you allow background access, step widgets keep updating while the app is closed. Data from Health Connect is not transferred off your device, shared with anyone, used for advertising or used to build profiles, and is handled in line with the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can remove access at any time in Health Connect.
Weather service
Forecasts come from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) at api.met.no. Each request contains your chosen city's position, or your approximate location rounded to about 1 km, and identifies the app. MET Norway's own terms and privacy statement apply to those requests. Weather data is licensed under CC BY 4.0.
What the app does not do
- No account or sign-in.
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
- No background location: location is used only while the app is open, then saved on your phone.
Backups and deleting your data
Your widget settings may be included in your phone's own Android backup if you have it turned on. Everything the app keeps is on your phone: uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes it. You can also withdraw any permission at any time in Android settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
